THE STAGE OF LIFE
All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts (…)
– WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE – As you like it, Act II, Scene VII
I’ve been addicted to stories my entire life. I’ve read them in books, watched them on the big screen, or listened to them in the tales of the people I met while traveling around the world. Sometimes I’ve tried to capture them with a camera, other times I drew them from the memories they left in my soul. One day, I decided to write one. It was based on a true event that had occurred to me. I was being vulnerable and unveiling myself in my nakedness before my audience. My intention was to share the priceless beauty of the moment I had just experienced. The story talked about my mother and I read it at her funeral. After that event, my best friend Alberto told me: “I think you should keep writing and share your stories with the world” and so I did, and since then never stopped.
I’ve always believed that life is like being on the stage of a film or a theater play, that is why the title of this diary is “The Stage of Life”. In here you’ll read episodes of my personal story. They blend comedy, tragedy, action, and profound lessons that I have learned. They’re animated with unique characters and painted with the incredible shades of colors human beings are made of. They talk about the different, the imperfects, the rebels, the outsiders, the dreamers, the artists, the movers, the shakers, the fools, the ones that believe they can change the world. I love them because they are capable to inspire humanity.
A little note before you read. Everything written in this diary comes from MY experience. None of what has been written is intended to offend anyone. Words mean different things to different people and what has shaped my journey might not resonate with you. I invite you to read this book with awareness and an open mind.
I hope my stories will inspire you to live passionately, love beyond measure, and to be crazy enough to follow your dreams, because that to me, is the only door to Happiness.
With Love, Coxy.
