In 1986, the movie Labyrinth came out. This fantasy film directed by Jim Henson sees David Bowie as Jareth, King of the Goblins who kidnaps a young girl’s (Jennifer Connelly) little brother and challenges her to reach the center of an enormous maze to rescue him.
I must have watched that movie at least 100 times. Reason number one: I was madly in love with the Goblin King who scared and intrigued me at the same time.
I was 7 years old by then and that’s when I started discovering about David Bowie and became a big fan of all of his Art.
Yes, I believe ART is the closest word to describe his work and his life and from my perspective it’s not even enough. David Bowie has influenced, changed and permeated generations with his music, his bold Style choices, and the several characters he played on stage and on camera. He reached far beyond Music and inspired people to self expression. Well, at least that is my personal opinion.
As a tribute to his incredible life and his iconic style, Today I wish to share with you a documentary on his life and a Style Board with the Best of Ziggy’s looks throughout his incredible career (click here to see it).
His last album “Blackstar” has just been released few days ago. His closest friends said he kept fighting and writing songs even on his deathbed .
There’s a beautiful song in the album entitled “Lazarus” (click here to listen to it) which lyrics start like this:
“Look up here, I’m in heaven I’ve got scars that can’t be seen
I’ve got drama, can’t be stolen
Everybody knows me now…”
You are more than Stardust now.
You became immortal.
Thank you for sharing your incredible Talent and Art with the world.
